Size and fit
Letter sizes on knits, waist and inseam in inches on woven pants, one page per size, and one way to check before you order.
Two kinds of size
Knits, which is most of the site, use letter sizes from X-Small to 4X-Large. Woven pants and some shorts use a waist in inches, sometimes with an inseam: 34W x 32L means a 34 inch waist and a 32 inch inseam. The size row on each page prints whichever the piece uses, and each step is its own page with its own price. A missing step is a size not made in that colour, or out of stock in the current update.
How to check
Lay a pair you own flat and measure across the waistband, then double it. Compare that number with the size chart at our retail partner for the piece you are considering. For shorts, measure the inseam from the crotch seam to the hem of a pair you like, because the inseam is the one number that decides how a pair of shorts feels.
| Bench | Sizing | Runs | Between sizes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Running and gym shorts | letters | true, elastic waist | down on 2-in-1 pairs, the liner holds |
| Hiking, golf and cargo shorts | letters or waist in inches | true | up for a full day of walking |
| Swim | letters | true, drawcord waist | measure across the waistband |
| Sweatpants and joggers | letters, plus 32 to 38 inch inseams on the tall line | true, joggers close at the ankle | up on joggers |
| Hiking, golf and travel pants | waist x inseam in inches | true | up a waist if belted over a base layer |
| Sun shirts | letters | true for a loose fit | up for air on a hot day |
| Tees, polos and pullovers | letters | tees true, pullovers generous | usual size on base layers |
| Jackets | letters | generous, to fit over a fleece | usual size for wear over a tee |
Tall
The tall line on the sweatpants bench runs 32, 34, 36 and 38 inch inseams. Regular pairs across the site are cut around 31 to 32 inches. If you have ever had sweatpants stop above the ankle, measure the inseam on a pair that fits and pick the tall step that matches.
What we cannot tell you
How a piece will sit on you in particular. The honest answer is a measurement of something you own, compared with the chart at our retail partner, and the size row on the page for what exists in that colour today.
